Our Groups

We run various groups for Derbyshire residents affected by symptoms of dementia and their carers (you can access our services without an official diagnosis).

Some groups are face-to-face, some are online; some are educational and some are purely for pleasure… all are led by our experienced and friendly staff, and take place in safe and relaxed environments, giving you an opportunity to meet with others in a similar situation to yourself, and get support from staff and volunteers.

As well as our groups which are listed on this page, you might be interested in other groups and events that are on the ‘What’s on near you’ page.

Memory Cafe & Singing for the Brain

See below is a list of all our groups throughout Derbyshire.

Please note that group venues, days & times remain the same, but the groups alternate monthly between a Singing for the Brain session & a Memory Cafe session (i.e.one month its Singing for the Brain and then next month Memory Cafe).

Our memory café is an information and activity-based session lead by our Group Facilitator. Information and advice will be presented on a key topic and where possible a guest speaker may attend part of the session. This will be followed by some activities and an opportunity to have a chat and meet other people similarly affected by dementia, in a friendly and relaxed environment.

Join our Singing for the Brain sessions and meet new people in a friendly and fun social environment. Singing improves your brain activity, wellbeing, and mood, and you don’t need to be a good singer to benefit, we sing for pleasure and cover a wide variety of familiar songs. The group is hosted by our friendly and experienced Group Facilitator.

Who can attend these groups:  Derbyshire residents with or awaiting a diagnosis of dementia, plus their carer/family member.  If you are interested in attending, please phone us to book your place – 01332 208845.
